Sally Mair - Loving life

The Elves are out

The Christmas lights elves were out and about today defrosting the tree in our church grounds. Just two weeks until the community lights event on the 30th November. The year is flying by.
Colin is still in Leeds so the day was my own today. I made a family Bolognaise sausage this morning for distribution next week. I may make it into a lasagne as that way it can be put into the oven to reheat on automatic and it's a full meal ready to eat if they are pressed for time.
I headed over to Fife marvelling at the number of cars coming south over the bridge towards Edinburgh. I decided I would delay joining the queue on my way back till as far down the motorway as possible. A good decision was it turned out as the queues were even longer.
When I got back I went to let someone into the church hall where they were holding a birthday party - I think the adults and family out numbered the two year olds celebrating!
I had a couple of hours to kill so went down to Goldenacre to pick something up and into the Marie Curie shop there, I always think I should find some nice things there, but never actually do so. I did get some pretty earrings though which came in a little Kate Spade draw string bag
I went into the deli and had a good look around and a long chat with the owner. They make and sell home made Christmas cakes, not having got around to making my own this year, I'm tempted. She gave me a slice to take home to try , not bad either, perhaps not as moist as mine, but that may be because it is alcohol free so it won't get the regular feeding mine get.
After locking up after the party I popped round to the Rectory to meet painter and joiner to discuss some priority work and some other options. I fear we may end up having to replace the kitchen.
I'm going to watch the last episode of the Turkish Detective tonight. I watched episode 5 last night. Colin didn't really enjoy it so I'm taking advantage of him being away.
