Shredder race

Did you know that there is arranged match shows for gerbils and that there also often is a shredder race? Our gerbils Lily and Emma took part to a shredder race today. These gerbils are fit and awake normally, but almost 3 years old already. But we took them with us to the race, as our other gerbils were still sleeping at 9am.

In the race gerbils normally bite/ shredder rolls of cardboard into small pieces durin 5 minutes. And the result is then measured. In the blip you can see different biting styles...

Our old gerbil ladies lost the competition: Emma did not understand she should bite the roll of cardboard at all. She was happily looking around and only diving through the roll... Lily did notice that biting was the idea here, but she bite the roll from both ends in turn - so she did not get a very good result, but quite fine style she had...

In the blip Lily and Emma are standing in the yellow box waiting for the results;-)
Your pets did get 'a Good Try' -award as Lily's biting style was so delicate.

Hope you had a good weekend. I sure have had. Rainy day today and quite cool, +13c... I visited to one private nursery home for alzheimer patients (I wonder if my father would like it???) today - they had so called open doors day today. And I baked a rhubarb pie as my son comes home tomorrow noon.
