The Sorlandet

This is the oldest of the Tall Ships, built in 1927. It’s Norwegian, a true replica and fully rigged, and is used as a training ship. It also takes part in the Tall Ship races.

Sunday morning in Funchal is when lots of youngsters go sailing, windsurfing, cycling and lots of other sporting activities. It’s a happy, energetic and youthful place.

I also love the services in the cathedral. This morning’s was so beautiful and moving. Wonderful in these difficult times. Lots of excellent music, an inspirational priest (and I’m neither Catholic nor a Portuguese speaker).

We then caught the bus out to Praia Formosa for lunch at probably my favourite restaurant, the Doca do Cavacas. 

Overcast a bit today but who cares, it was just perfect….
