Remembrance
Our tiny park, Princes Park, is the UK’s smallest park, created in 1863 to commemorate the marriage of Albert Edward, Prince of Wales and Princess Alexandra of Denmark. The three commemorative trees in this corner are named Faith, Hope and Charity. This morning, local volunteers were putting the finishing touches to the decorations.
It is no longer straightforward. We live in such a troubled world. It is no longer enough to look back and honour the dead, praying that we have learned lessons from the past.
Countries war, create horrific acts and destroy wantonly. Factions disagree and threaten public disorder, even as we remember.
Pray for peace, before the numerous terrifying situations become even worse.
