Sunny oak woods

I am a couple of days late in posting this as we have been away in Glasgow for some appointments. I took this shot on our outward journey when we stopped to have a walk in the sunshine with Bertie. We had taken the short ferry across to Loch Aline, giving us a sensible start time to our day rather than getting up at 4.30am to catch the first Craignure to Oban ferry. (There had been no space on the later ferry when I tried to book several weeks ago!)
It was beautiful walking through the autumn colours in the sunshine. We were also interested to see the ground covered with netting under the oak trees and having read a recent comment by blipper Treshnish, it seems that these are to catch acorns as they fall. (First extra) Further on, we caught the Corran Ferry, back in service just this week after an absence of over a year due to mechanical problems. Onwards to Glencoe where I haven’t been for quite some time and, forgetting that it is now November, I was surprised to see a sprinkling of snow on the hills. (Second extra)
Apart from poor Bertie being spectacularly sick on the twisting Loch Lomond road we had a very good journey. Since he turned two years old, Bertie has travelled very well but this road was just one twist too many for the poor lad.
After a quick stop at the Glasgow Angling Centre, ably assisted by the satnav, we tracked down our camping spot for the night, very conveniently placed in the village of Stepps on the edge of Glasgow. Being in the middle of a modern housing estate,  it wasn’t our usual choice but all other sites nearby were closed either for the season or by recent flooding. However, we had a good pitch with all the facilities we needed and a lovely view across the Glasgow skyline towards the sunset.
