Tolcarne Beach, Newquay
It’s been a rather damp day so we spent the morning in The Blue Reef Aquarium in Newquay which, although small, is very informative with lots of sea creatures to see.
The problem was they weren’t too keen on staying still long enough to have their photos taken! However, I couldn’t resist one of the star of the show, the loggerhead turtle in extras which was mesmerising. The lizards in extras were also more willing subjects.
When we came out it was dry enough for a walk to Tolcarne beach and all the way back to Towan beach. On the way a group of lifeguards were practising a rescue operation, swimming and surfing out to rescue a group of colleagues who were playing the part of swimmers in distress. Their professionalism was impressive and they were happy to chat with us when they got back on land about the techniques they were using.
The sky from Tolcarne beach was looking ominous and by the time we got back to the car persistent rain had set in.
