Dear Green Place 12 - Pollok Country Park

...Glasgow's largest park. The original owners were the Maxwell family (Maxwell of yesterday's park. I see now I've inadvertently linked the last four parks... that's going to be difficult to keep going...) There had been successive generations of the Maxwell family living here since the 13th Century. The family gifted the parkland and Pollok House to the City of Glasgow in 1966.

This is one of my favourite parks and there are so many things I could have blipped but I'd never seen the farriers shoeing the Clydesdales before, so this is what today in the park meant for me. This is Duke having one of his new shoes fitted. I am amazed that the horses just stand there quite unfazed by all of this - the hot shoes and the hammering... Their shoes are replaced every five weeks but even still, some of them were worn down to just a sliver at the front.
