Log fire at lunchtime in the pub.
Stephen felt much better so we went out for our our usual Saturday pub lunch. It was quite cold this morning first thing with a really chilly wind.
As the sun is beginning to go down just now, the temperature is going down with it.
It will be our first real cold nip of Autumn tonight with tomorrow beginning at 3C.
I’ve changed our 10 tog duvet today for a 15 tog.
Last winter we had two hot water bottles in the bed and our dressing gowns on top of the duvet!
This 15 tog one will keep us toasty!
We were sitting by this lovely log fire crackling away in the grate having our dinner. It was very cosy.
I had the towels out on the line first thing and by mid afternoon they had all dried.
I finished the book “Small things like these” earlier after we returned home.
It is so beautifully written I would recommend it for the hidden story it contains.
I have given it to Stephen to read, before we return it to our friend.
Now I’m about to read a couple of chapters of “The Lighthouse” before tea, and Strictly Come Dancing.
One of the daily readings of the Lectio 365 earlier in the week offered A Prayer for the crisis in Israel and Gaza.
Whatever our faiths or not, I’m pretty sure a lot of people cry out “God help me” when deep trouble overtakes them
When we get compassion fatigue seeing the absolute awfulness, there is always a way to act, through giving to Aid organisations, and to pray, however those prayers are made.
We two sat looking out over our garden a little while ago so thankful that we have a warm home of shelter, food to eat, clothes to wear, and a place of safety.
We are blessed.
