St John’s College, Cambridge
Today, after overnight rain and more normal temperatures we drove across to Cambridge. There is no easy route from Cheltenham. In the end we joined the ‘artic convoys’ heading for the North Sea container ports along the A14. We also passed giant ‘cathedrals’ to the retail distribution network that litter this arterial corridor at the heart of our nation’s logistics. Be in no doubt we really are a service industry economy now!
We were in Cambridge to attend a memorial service in St John’s College chapel and a reception afterwards. The Chapel was stunning. The service very moving.. The no photo inside the chapel rule was very clear!
As we came out the undergraduates were in the dining hall. No gown. No dinner!!
As we headed back to the hotel we passed countless cyclists, hurtling without lights. Luckily none collided !
