More Berries

But this time, they are on my dogwood tree. My blip was supposed to be a new monarch butterfly but it simply would not cooperate. Maybe tomorrow. I baked scones for breakfast, using the ones I made and froze last week. They turned out fine. Great news; now I can make up a whole batch, freeze them and only cook a few each day. Hubby and I brought my flower pots into the basement for the winter. They do better if they acclimate to inside conditions before we turn on the heat. Hubby cut down a small ornamental “Christmas tree” that was all but dead. It has lived longer than the other two we planted years ago. I will replace it with perennials to match the other end of the garden where its “twin” was planted. I got rid of maple saplings and English ivy shoots that have sprouted in my garden this summer. Weeding is a never ending process. Later I washed a load of laundry, made chicken salad and cleaned the kitchen. Hubby will grill steaks for dinner. We buy them and never think to cook them for dinner. Tomorrow is our guests’ last full day in Maryland. They are working hard to repack their suitcases with so many treasures. Other than vertigo and sniffles, I really think they have enjoyed their time here. We must pray for the hostages. The threats from Hamas are horrendous. Stay safe. Thanks for your visit. “On the motionless branches of some trees, autumn berries hung like clusters of coral beads, as in those fabled orchards where the fruits were jewels . . .” - Charles Dickens
