Despite my fears about traffic, it was a totally trouble free drive to Manchester and we arrived ridiculously early! So, plenty of time for something to eat and drink before the show.
The Winery Dogs are described as a “rock supergroup” and all three members are superb musicians. Drummer Mike Portnoy was a founder member of Dream Theater and both Billy Sheehan (bass) and Ritchie Kotzen (guitar and vocals) have played in the group Mr. Big (amongst other things). I’ve seen them before, in 2016, and Stu and I went to see Ritchie Kotzen alongside Adrian Smith (Iron Maiden) last February.
It was a great concert and Stu and I also bumped into a bunch of lads from Kendal, who we hadn’t seen for a few years - great to see them and have a catch up. No traffic on the way home either - a very rare occurrence for trips to Manchester!
Today saw Route 66 performing in front of the Town Hall this afternoon, as part of Barrow Music Week. Not the best day to be performing outside, but the rain stayed away and those hardy souls who braved the cold, seemed to enjoy what we did.
I’m back in Barrow this evening, watching rather than playing this time. Scouting For Girls are closing the Music Week with a concert at The Forum. I think it’s about fifteen years since I last saw them, so looking forward to it.
