TSB

It is said that variety is the spice of life and certainly this is a big departure in style from yesterday's blip.

A One Street blip today - I'm pleased to present the current Lloyds TSB branch in Hanover Street, previously The Trustees Savings Bank and the Edinburgh Savings Bank before that. This building was only designed, built and unveiled between 1939 and 1940 which surprises me greatly as it has the appearance of something much older. Apparently it was the desire of the bank's trustees of the day 'to erect a building worthy of the city and one which would be in keeping with the best traditions of Edinburgh architecture', all of which, in my view, was admirably achieved.
