Simply a best
I have loved today.
Breakfast first with the delegation and then they left for work.
I went swimming in the lovely pool. I asked a member of staff why no one else was swimming. He said, because it’s too cold! Music to my ears. It wasn’t cold. It was so lovely.
I then went for a walk around this area of Kathmandu. It felt safe and liberating. I haven’t done this kind of thing on my own for a long long time. I just wandered, took photos, looked around, sat a couple of times and just watched. Fascinating.
Back to the hotel when I ran out of water and went for a run on a treadmill and straight back into the pool. Some reading and more swimming and the day moved towards sunset.
I then met up with a lovely Christian woman who runs an orphanage but has been charged with proselytising for having bibles in the orphanage. She’s facing a 1 year jail sentence. She was lovely to meet.
A quick change and then off to dinner at the British Embassy. The Ambassador is new to this office but he spoke really clearly about the complexities of Nepal, backed up by 2 great members of staff. Our dinner was scrumptious and the chat really interesting.
Home. Drinks with the delegation on a terrace and the day is done. :-))
Oh - and our view from our bedroom window has Himalayan snowy peaks. Not sure which peaks we are looking at yet. We’ll find out soon!
