Professor Brian Cox

This is Professor Brian Cox, who used to be the keyboard player in D:Ream (Things can only get better) and is now best known as an eminent Physicist who has been at the forefront in popularising science through the  television programmes he has presented. He was the star speaker at the Brooklands Innovation Academy Science Summer School event held today at the Brooklands Museum in Weybridge. I was there to present an award sponsored by my former NHS Hospital Trust in memory of its first Medical Director whom I worked with  closely as Chief Executive. I was delighted that his widow, who is also a doctor, was able to join me. We presented the award to three young students who had each written a 500 word blog post on how different technologies and AI could improve services in the NHS for patients. They were great pieces of work, especially given that two of the winners were still at primary school. An inspirational occasion, seeing so many school kids so enthused about the possibilities and potential of science as a force for good.
