My Meh Dinner
There comes a time on a cruise when you get tired of eating. Hard to beliee, I know, but it really does happen.
I had my "meh" meal towards the end of the cruise, on the third formal night.
Quite frankly I should have chosen better. There was Duck a l'Orance on the menu, and Chateaubriand, but I chose the lobster. Don't ask why, I'm not a great fan, but everyone raves about it.
The lobster arrived, and to it's credit it was cooked very nicely, but it was boring. It's accompaniments didn't help. it was as if they had blown the budget getting the lobster and then they had to find something, anything, to serve with it that was cheap. They came up with what tasted like cinnamon rice-a-roni, gelatinous green goo, and a pair of sesame fried shrimp (think shrimp popper rather than tempura). The single stick of asparagus was nice. but would have been nicer if there had been more. The two lame-looking croquettes were the side from the Chateaubriande that I asked the waiter if I could try. I should have had him bring the whole dish.
Not my favourite dinner, but I could and should have chosen more wisely, and hardly left hungry as there was a to-die-for spa version of a tiramisu for dessert! :)
