Pumpkins
The farm does roaring business every autumn with a pumpkin patch where they artfully put pumpkins in a large field with entertainments and tractor rides. They make a fortune out of it. This is a feeder field and the pumpkin plants sprawl across the path making it hard to walk the dog through and get the papers. There is a nice long way round so we did half of that but took on the field for the return and walked back through. The sun was glorious and all these golden orbs shone. I did give one or two a sly kick because they are annoying and I know there will be masses left over. They aren’t edible, I asked the farmer if I could have one, as they are grown for carving, which seems a shame.
Shopped and prepped and Jo and Martin arrived at tea time. It’s lovely having them here. I cooked a good meal, Nigella’s chicken in orzo, and the NS plum crumble cake with greengages. With good cheese and wine we had a lovely evening.
