ALL ABOUT THE ELEPHANTS
Awful internet problems so way behind….
#We woke early to amazing views across the rainforest and then had breakfast with the chipmunks and tiny birds that the waiter called with a bird whistle.
Our driver was ready at 8 for the
2 hours to hotel no 5.
#We stopped at Ella waterfall on the way. It was lovely and I so wanted to join the locals for a swim!!! The funniest thing ever was a Sri Lankan man about 30 playing an authentic drum but to the tune of I’m a Barbie Girl in a Barbie world. It was very odd but so funny.
When we got to out hotel we were informed we had been upgraded again (possibly…it seems to be a line they use often!)
#We had 2 hours before our next excursion so took a dip in the pool
#(I did try and get a good photo of us 2) we ordered a club sandwich room service just in time before we were off on our elephant safari.
#Elephant keep…also todays crown moment!!We drove for about 10 mins with the guide pointing out peacocks..yes but not an elephant. A beautiful bee eater bird…yes but not an elephant. We drove to a lake…still no elephant. We were told there were over 300!!!
#Suddenly we heard a call…the jeep reversed quickly and we watched this majestic animals appear from the bushes. The group at the top!!
They came quite close…a metre away. It was magical to watch.
#There was a mum and baby too. They all went down to the lake for a dip.
After seeing lots more birds…egrets and eagles we spotted more elephants, #including an angry male. Our jeep driver was so skilled. He knew just when to leave!!!
#Our safari lasted 4 hours and we saw lots of animals…crocodiles, deer, water buffaloes and a mongoose. It was so special.
#We got back to our hotel in time for dinner where we got chatting to a lovely couple who are moving to Bermondsey and they have literally been following us on the whole tour :))).
Just a magical elephant safari.
