FROM CUTE TO CULTURE

Quick pack and breakfast. Today we had a lay in as our tour wasn’t picking us up until 10. However we were still a few mins late!!! He came looking for us!!
##We drove 10 mins up the road to watch baby orphaned elephants getting their breakfast!! The first photo is them literally running for their milk. They are let out of the main pound in 5s and they bolt across the field. So so cute. The middle picture is of them having grain and eating sugar cane. They look quite big but most were only 3ft high!!
#After another 2 hour drive we arrived in Galle. A fort built by the Portuguese and then taken over by the Dutch. The lighthouse is the oldest one in Sri Lanka so it seemed appropriate representation of the day for my tiara moment. :)))
#This is the little courtyard at our hotel. #Research back home lead me to believe this hotel wasn’t up to much but in reality our room was gorgeous… comfortable, modern and full of Galle history.
#we took a walk along the ramparts…it was sunny but very windy and I filmed the storm clouds as The Rev nagged…come on we’re going to get wet …and boy did we!!!! It was as if a bucket of water had been poured over us!!! We found a cafe to go into for a drink but got tempted by the menu…prawn dumplings and crispy tempura chicken..yummy.
#Once we had dried off a bit we walked around the town for a bit…some interesting clothes shops, art galleries and jewellery shops …where a very nice made helped me chose a pick ring…well I might change my nail colour :)))

In the evening we asked Peter and Alice to join us for dinner they were more than happy too and we had a fab evening chatting.

STARTING A DAY WITH BABY ELEPHANTS CAN’T BE BAD.
