TEA AND TRAIN

We packed and sadly left the lovely hotel to explore the tea plantations and take a train ride. These early mornings are difficult but it’s the only way to see everything on the schedule
#As we got higher …up to 6,000 ft above sea level we saw lots of beautiful waterfall. (Reminded me of Wales)
#we stopped at views place to admire the view.
#we passed miles and miles of tea plants and saw the women collecting the leaves ..2 leaves and 1 bud. They are expected to collected 20kg a day to make 5kg of tea.
We had a tour of the Dumbro Tea Factory…such a quick process..pick, dry, grind, chop and grade them for packaging.
#I had my crown moment drinking tea with tea cake in the tea plantation cafe. X
Then we drove to a place known as Little England with Tudor style buildings, golf courses and a horse race track!!! Our guide left us for an hour to have lunch outside the very Grand Hotel. After our lunch of crispy chicken roll and mini chicken pies we decided we wanted to see the town so we jumped in a Tuk tuk for a 20 min tour (we paid £5!). He gave us a good tour told us lots of information but boy were we told off by our guide when we returned. He was so worried if we were safe and said there are 3 accidents an hour in Sri Lanka!!! He had trace the Tuk tuk driver through various sources to check we were ok. Bless him it was only out of concern but it became a long term joke!!!
#we got to Nuwara to board our train to Haputale. Luckily we had designated seats. In the other carriages people were standing, sitting on the floor and hanging out to doors!!! More stunning views we’re enjoyed and we got chatting to a Spanish couple and a German couple. It was a lovely journey, our only issue was there were only signs as we left each station so it was pure lucky we got off at the right place!! Clambering down a small step ladder :))) our guide was there to meet us to take us to…
##Hotel No 4. Beautiful room. Stunning views but ooooohhh the bugs!!!! It was clean but we were so deep in the rainforest!!
Swim, massage and a tasty dinner…not a buffet this time a nice set menu with pretty food.
A day of too much adventure
