Beside the Path

I took a trip out to the National Trust's The Vyne for the afternoon. They have recently completed a project to upgrade the weir on their lake to comply with flood prevention regulations as it is now considered a reservoir. 

The best views of the house are from the path across the lake, however this has been closed while they work. It is now open again, though there is still some landscaping work to be done, however it was good to be able to take in the view again (extra), as well as look at the new weir and bridge, which makes for a rather interesting sight though clearly needs to bed into the landscape.

It was then off into the woods for a walk when I came across a nicely carved bench next to (i.e. beside)  the path which gave me my subject to today's Mono Monday Challenge.
