SCIENCE FICTION?
This dragonfly looks like a bug made for a science fiction movie with his mechanical-looking parts. I was happy to get a shot of this quick-moving insect - he didn't want to stay in one spot more than five seconds. I wish it had been the more colorful variety - like the iridescent blue-green type, but I'll settle for this specimen. Since starting with Blip, one of the things that amazes me the most are the delicate, intricate features of insects. Photographing birds is a challenge and taking a perfect shot of a flower isn't easy, but I find 'bugs' so interesting. Loving it!
Also today, I found a long-legged spider - his legs even had joints! He was on the house siding, so just dull & boring. He was a couple feet above some flowers - hmmm...How to get him closer to the flowers for a more colorful shot? Answer: I found a willing assistant to hold a flower close to the spider so the picture had a bit of interest. Yup - we're all getting involved! ;-)
I also took pictures of a very prehistoric-looking beetle - looked like he could be from the Dark Ages with full body armor. Unfortunately, he was missing a leg - I didn't notice this until his pictures were ultra-large on the computer, so he couldn't be in the running for today's blip. :-)
