BEAUTIFUL TREE

I went to the library today to pick up this month's book club selection - which they have a 20 day wait for. Grrr! Dotted throughout the landscaping were six or seven of these beautiful little trees. (The library is fairly new, so the plants & trees are still quite small.) I haven't found their exact name, but I'm guessing it's in the dogwood family. The flowers are enormous - almost as large as the leaves - very unusual, and seem to create horizontal layers on their branches. The trees were absolutely loaded - it was quite a sight! Unfortunately, it was a very overcast day, no sun at all. A bit of sunshine would have helped increase the detail of the petals, but this will have to do for today.
