Talk

This morning, we skipped the opening ceremony and German OR prize giving that opened the conference. I finished my slides, and gave my talk as the first in a parallel session. There was plenty of interest, and a couple of people who just wanted to say "Hi" because they're using our software and wanted to meet the people behind it. There were some interesting talks after mine, too. Lunch was just in the student canteen (Mensa) so it was good that we didn't have to pay.

In the afternoon I was too tired to do much, and really couldn't stay awake during the talk in this lecture theatre. Although it's an impressive space, there were very few people in so the acoustics were awful, and I couldn't follow half if what was being said.

Afterwards we returned to the hotel and, after a brief nap, I went out for a bike ride around the lake, and got wet when the forecasted rain began. We then went to eat locally, and were joined by a group of half-a-dozen folk from the institute in Berlin that we've visited many times, including a couple of good friends. The atmosphere was good, although the heavy rain eventually intervened and we all went out separate ways.
