Birmingham and Spiderman

Today's blip pic is Audrey this morning in her PJs playing with her birthday balloons. Not sure my husband will thank me for this shot of him in his dressing gown but it captured the moment! She loved them!!

Loaded up the car in the heat with a tetchy birthday girl but all was fine when we hit the road. Made great progress on the M6 despite it being a Friday and despite the weather. My mantra was "we'll stop when we get past Birmingham", "we just have to get past Birmingham!"

Worked a treat. Audrey had a nap and we finally got past Birmingham (with a quick detour to pick up a little push along car for Audrey from an eBay seller which ended up being amusing in that the most gorgeous lady gave it to us and my husband was beyond distracted and nearly ran her over as she got it out of the car boot!)

Arrived at our stunning holiday cottage and settled in. All the other families, kids and dogs arrived joining us. I am beyond excited about the weekend. It feels so unreal to have all my friends and their kids under one roof like this!

One of the trickiest things has been where to put our babies to sleep. Audrey has ended up in an en suite bathroom.

The couple upstairs weren't so lucky as they have a room with a roof light. In the end my husband did his best Spiderman impression balancing on a four poster bed to attach a black-out blind to the window. Probably highly dangerous in hindsight but it is amazing what you will do for a good night's sleep!

Now where is that glass of wine...?
