King of the Parrots

The Australian King Parrot is a stunning bird, with his vivid reds and greens. From my research I have discovered that the colouring of this bird makes it a male, and here you see him, caught in the act of pinching some left over palm seeds.

I have added a back-blip tonight of a pair of female Figbirds, who have just about wiped out all of the seeds on this palm. The King Parrot seemed to be content with the left-overs though.

We have a long weekend here in Australia this weekend, it's the Queen's birthday long weekend. (Why we have it in June when her birthday is in April, I have yet to fathom out!)
