A lovely sunny morning, Pip was expected, but there was a change of plan, so Archie and I set off into town. Lots going on still, and you have to feel sorry for some of the performers, especially when they start up, and nobody is bothering to watch. There was one woman warbling away and it was Finnish ballads, I heard her explaining to the two people who stopped to listen. There was an amazing guitarist we watched for a while. But once again, I forgot to bring some coins with me.
A quick stop for an ice cream, then down Victoria Street to the Grassmarket. Up the `Vennel Steps - haven’t done that for a while - but thankfully there was nobody waiting at the top trying to take a photo of the steps and the castle without an old biddy spoiling it.
We came straight across the Meadows, thus avoiding all the cafes. I'm trying not to drink so much coffee, I think it might be contributing to my headaches.
JR went to the midday gym session at the local gym (as well as her morning one at the Commie, of course) and then went to a Degree Show at the Art College. We went to one in June, and I was so unimpressed, I didn't fancy going to another one. I'm glad I didn't bother - JR didn't exactly rave about the standard.
Archie and I had a snooze when we came home. (4,915 steps). Then JR took him out again (16, 970 steps!!) while I watched the athletics from Budapest. Yesterday Josh Kerr won the 1500m, beating the favoured Norwegian runner. In fact, Josh Wightman won it last year, and both those runners trained in Meadowbank Stadium, Edinburgh. Steve Cram (in 1984) is the only other GB winner. Impressive!
The photo of Arch and I with the ice cream was taken by a random passer by…
