Between road and river
We drove home from Edinburgh this morning and I stopped just before passing Loch Lubnaig to re-visit the old graveyard of St Bride's. I visited it a few years ago, having spotted the gate while driving by on an earlier occasion. You'd only see it if you happened to look up at the right moment as it's not very obvious. On one side of it is the busy road, on the other the Garbh Uisge, a rushing river.
It's a McKinlay family graveyard belonging to Annie's (or Anie's) Farm nearby, and has one remaining upright gravestone, marking the grave of James McKinlay who died in 1805. The walls are derelict and the remains of the chapel foundations almost invisible, but it's an interesting place to see if you don't mind walking a couple of hundred yards along the verge of a busy road!
My extra today is of the solitary gravestone. Good to see that flowers are still being placed there!
