Who got the bigger surprise?

I had another lovely walk in the woods with Murdoch today - isn't this weather just glorious? (I think it is the same all over the country). I took my camera with as I wanted some photos of all the fresh new ferns that are unfolding in the undergrowth. Murdoch is a real pain and always tramples over what I am trying to photograph. so I tied him to a tree on his lead, as can be seen here.

Whilst I was kneeling in the undergrowth this horse and rider suddenly appeared out of nowhere - I don't know who was more surprised, the rider (who looks pretty startled I think) or Murdoch, who was too surprised to even bark. He just stared at the horse and was very quiet.

I need to finish my book for book club on Thursday night. I am reading the new Kate Atkinson book called Life after Life. I do enjoy her style of writing and as always this is well written, but it is a real nuisance to read on the Kindle. It is a story about a 'what if' situation, a girl who dies but what if she had not died and all the different scenarios that are played out are quite confusing, especially as I keep having to flick back on the Kindle - a book would be so much easier...I miss books.
