Sunday: “Salad Days”

I’ve often heard today’s Blip title but never given it a second thought, apart from thinking it meant “Summer” … not so!

Another drizzly day, which started off dry just to give us false hope … :-(

Today’s salad included radish seedlings, I’m slowly removing them from the big tub where they’re protecting the very delicate carrot seedlings - they’re not going to waste, still mild enough. Also thinned out seedlings of lettuce and rocket which are growing next to tiny seedlings of leeks and chives - the leeks will hopefully grow and feed us during the winter months, like last year - https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/3042911126946842776

As for the Chives … there used to be beautiful clumps of them in the garden with their pretty purple flowers which the pollinators loved, now I don’t have any and I’ve been trying to grow them from seed for last few years, if this lot don’t grow I may resort to buying some plants! :-((

It has rained heavily all afternoon, 7pm now and still pouring … :-((
