Another celebration this afternoon,

A friend made this 50th Wedding Anniversary cake for our anniversary as a gift. We had invited some of our lovely friends round for cake and coffee, tea, soft drinks, this afternoon.
Most of the cake was eaten and our next door neighbour Rose, took some home with her for her hubby, He cannot get out much theses days and they are both in their 90’s.
She only looks about 80!
A lot of lovely conversations all going on, as not everyone knew each other,
We have some beautifully decorated cup cakes, which are gluten, lactose and nut free made to the same floral design by the friend who made the main cake to share with some of our family tomorrow afternoon.
In the meantime we both have our feet up having sorted the tidying away and me, putting the two bunches of sunflowers we were given into vases. We have been thoroughly spoiled by everyone. The cards and gifts were very thoughtful.
I got out the original Wedding Album for people to look through. Always fun to see the fashion of the day,and how it was almost sacrosanct for ladies not to wear a hat!
I don’t think that “ fascinators” has been invented then.
Although I don’t think hats will ever go out of fashion for weddings altogether.
It feels like autumn today,
The forecast for the weekend was dire yesterday.
Mad when you think of parts of Europe and the Mediterranean sizzling in the heat furnace.
