A lovely weekend

After the lovely afternoon yesterday with our friends and neighbours, we had some of the family round this afternoon for their cakes. These were cupcakes made to the same design as the big one yesterday. And they were gluten, dairy and nut free too.
One of the grandchildren had a birthday party to attend so she wasn’t here.
The other three along with our son (as our d-i-l had taken her to the party), all enjoyed their cakes, and the rest were taken home for the others.
Lovely to see them all as they rushed in as usual.
I was showing the youngest (4 yrs old) where to put the food for Harry the hedgehog. Before they went home I gave her some to put out for him.
Hide and seek was played with her and our 7 year old grandson out in the garden, before we decamped up to the loft bedroom where they all used to sleep when they had to live here for over 2 months in 2021.
We have a lot of toys and writing and colouring stuff up there, as I always keep the desk drawers filled with materials for them to use,
Our eldest grandson (11yrs old) was downstairs with his dad and Stephen. He was busy with two sets of Jenga bricks, building towers or standing them in formations and then filming them in slow motion as he made them all topple over in sequence.
Eventually he joined us up in the loft.
It was soon time to go home once more for tea. They weren’t staying today,
So now I’m just winding down and actually sitting at the small patio table by the window and feeling rather tired!
Stephen has gone to church. I will watch on-line in a bit,
I’m looking at the two beautiful plants which were given to us as gifts yesterday, amongst other things.
I’ve taken the photo.
They are a Little Spooky (!) hydrangea bush and next to it is a lovely Ballerina rose. I have been working out where I will plant them, with hubby’s help as I can’t dig a lot now.
It’s getting a bit chilly so I’m going to decamp indoors.
What a wonderful weekend we have had in our ongoing celebrations of being married 50 years on July 14th.
We are doing all sorts of different things throughout the year.
The next one will be a trip to France the first week in September.
