Between fen and mountains

It was a hot day so we set off early to walk up to the refuge through the woods next to a cooling stream. The walk was about 670 metres of ascent and 11 kilometres. By the time we left the woods, it was hot but not too hot at an altitude of 1,700 metres. The walk back to the cars was again through woods in the shade and only the last section back to the cars was a bit uncomfortable, about 32 degrees but downhill. Nevertheless, that was not as hot as yesterday. A local temperature record was broken in Ceret where it was 40 degrees. It was around 38 for us.
