Australian raven with nesting materials

This morning I called over to see the daughter and granddaughter Margot, when onto their fence landed this raven, beak full of nest building stuff. It's a handsome bird, blue-black feathers and an extra ruff around the throat. I'm thinking it's a male, but if anyone knows how to tell, please advise.

Heck BobsBlips, when you or any other challenge optional theme host sets sky, I get a cloudless one. There was another day like this recently when the most amazing vapour trail crossed the blue behind a plane. Nothing like that today. But I got a raven.
