Noonicorn
entered 3 days later
This is my gorgeous niece, Eve, who is 3 and eleven twelfths and a little bit. She came to stay for the weekend with her mum and dad and big brother.
Shortly after arriving she found and fell in love with this unicorn noonicorn which used to belong to our now 18-year-old. It's been hanging around unloved in Tess's room for a couple of years. Tess is less committed to soft toys and much prefers pebbles.
I decided on Monday evening that I wanted to turn our study into a spare room and - after moving all the office equipment, ripping out built-in cupboards and shelves and finding new and temporary homes for everything and Richard having to go to work and leave me filling in enormous holes - on Friday we were still hanging pictures, making the bed, sticking coat hooks on the door, etc, etc... and generally dashing around like headless chickens (minus the blood, feathers, and clucking (oh yeah... no clucking anyway if you're headless...) ). But we were ready in time. Just.
We dragged them up the hill for a walk in the evening and Noonicorn had to come too.
What happened later is anyone's guess, but I remember it involved food and wine and talking and forgetting my 8-year-old was still up at 10.30pm
