Peter and his Cousins

Peter embarked in his great summer adventure…first stop in New York to spend a few nights with Claire and Julia who live there. Claire sent me this picture which makes me smile.

Tomorrow he leaves for Italy where he is doing a loop around the center…Rome, Parma, Bologna, Florence and the Cinque Terra on on to meet his Jim and Dana and three or four couples and their kids. It should be fun as all the young people (mostly young men) have known each other since kindergarten.

As for us, we are enjoying my brother’s company although it’s too hot to do anything very energetic after about 10am. He and John went to the Farmers’ Market with Jim and Dana . We were up at 6:15 when they started mowing the field next door. I stayed home with Spike as I didn’t want to leave him in the car in the heat. We usually leave him home but I didn’t think it would be a good idea to leave him banging around the house in his cone…

Janet from next door came by with a bouquet of flowers and my quiche pan. As soon as she sat down, Spike hopped up on the couch next to her. John came home with not one but two bunches of flowers from the market. We’re awash in blooms, but I can think of worse….
