The Dogs Know Their Place
And it seems to be as close as they can get! Rick cooked the most delicious dinner last night…Asian marinated skirt steak with a cucumber/radish/scallion relish. The night before he made a pasta with whatever veggies he found in the fridge. There was plenty left over to have it cold last night, and it was all wonderful. We were sitting on the couch recovering from our overindulgence when the dogs decided to join us…
Dana sent the picture
The only way can describe today is…soporific. It started out well…a small walk down the street with Spike, and a sit down outside while it was still cool enough watching Spike navigate on his own outside and contemplating the strange shape of the olive tree.
Pruning shears were produced and Rick expertly shaped up the tree, then turned the shears over to John who did some shaping and removal of an overzealous….they then passed to me and I cut off the spent yucca spikes.
John and Rick went to replenish the birdseed which has now become a staple in the diet of the resident squirrels. I did a few housekeeping chores to keep thing moving forward before they came back with a little box of treats from the French bakery and baguette sandwiches which needed to be consumed and digested before Jim and Dana arrive with a chicken to roast in the barbecue for an early dinner as Rick needs to leave for the airport at 6:30.
The afternoon has been spent dozing over golf on television. It’s been a lovely visit despite the rocking heat. I just looked at the thermometer and it is 102F. No time to be outside except for necessary per breaks for Spike.
