Nick’s Cove
When we stayed in Sebastopol on weekends we used to come to this part of the world quite often. We had lunch many times at the restaurant but It took our friends from Boulder Colorado to pry us out of our routine. There are also a number of delightful cottages here and we are staying for two nights.
We had a trip down memory lane eating lunch in Sebastopol, driving past the little farmhouse which we rented for three or four years and where we stayed on weekends. It’s a lovely drive to the coast from Sebastopol through West Sonoma County, home to rolling, windswept hills, dairy farms and wide open spaces. I’ve never seen it as dry as it is this year, cows lounging on dry brown grass.
We arrived at Nick’s Cove, a funky/beautifully refurbished/shabby chic sort of place. We sat out in the deck with drinks overlooking the bay with a long pier and chatted with the waiter about plans to rebuild the snack bar/ bait shack at the end of it which burned down last year. The footings are still intact so it shouldn’t be too difficult to rebuild, but even out here in the middle of nowhere it’s taking awhile to get the permits….
Tomorrow we’ll go to Dillon Beach a dog friendly place where we used to go all the time with Ozzie. Spike is with us. It is a whole new adventure for him.
