Simple Saturday supper and Catan
We were five for supper this evening: myself, Mr hazelh, Jon, Bruce, and Elly. Bruce is vegan, so for our main course we served kidney bean stew cooked by Mr hazelh with escalavida cooked by me (blipped). Jon brought éclairs for the non-vegan pudding, and from the freezer we supplied Bruce with vegan ice cream.
Over the course of the evening we played two games of Catan. Mr hazelh won the first - again. He seems to be on a sustained winning streak these days. I won the second, but only because Jon was very generous at the end of the game. Indeed, had he not helped me out with the last card that I needed to build a city, Jon would probably have triumphed himself.
Neither Mr hazelh nor I exercised today. Instead we focused our energies on catching up with various indoors tasks. For me that meant: more Mummy hazelh admin; a little work (an update to the LornaLPodcast Blipfoto journal, starting a blog post); planning for visitors (Jerry and John next week, Eve the week after, Jackie and Richard plus Cousin Ellie the following weekend, Winsford and LauraMuir at the end of July, Andy and Carol at the start of August, Ailish and Danny in the middle of August, and the Foxes at the end of August); and working out ways to celebrate Mr hazelh's next (milestone) birthday. Meanwhile Mr hazelh finished the production of his latest play Say cheese and studied Gaelic.
We also sat outside in the sunshine this morning to eat our bananas and observe the wildlife. We have never seen so many birds on our feeders before. At one point there were eight of them together pecking at the nuts, mealworm, and seeds. I had been blaming the magpies for the speed at which the feed is currently being consumed, but I think that the newly-arrived sparrows may be the main culprits.
Exercise today: none.
