Another Road Trip

We were up before 6:00 am. After a quick breakfast, packing food in coolers and loading them in the car, we were on the road by 7:05. It was warm and sunny throughout the 8 hour (so far) trip; we are sitting still with 14 miles to go. We stopped for gas, lunch and to purchase fresh loaves of bread and a ratchet strap. We are hauling Jamie’s golf cart; stopped three times to check the ratchet straps. Glad we did as one had broken. Luckily, hubby had brought a spare. As you can see in the top left frame, our car is loaded. Renee and I are supplying the bulk of our food and supplies for 11 adults. Lauren is taking care of what River and Isla need. Their vehicle is also quite full. We passed many bodies of water, went through another underwater tunnel and came upon periodic road construction. At times, we’d go miles on country roads and not see another car. Now, we are in line with hundreds of our “best buds” on the only main road in the Outer Banks trying to get to our rental. We may not get to 5:00 Mass at this rate. We saw tons of farms growing corn and soy beans. The rains have yielded beautiful crops thus far. Hubby and I prefer the scenic routes. The others have already reached our destination but my nerves cannot handle heavy interstate traffic. Plus we see a lot more on back roads. Hubby and I found this eclectic mom and pop restaurant. The food was wonderful, prices reasonable and the staff friendly. Great start to our vacation. We will be eating in most days. And if this is typical traffic, (we are moving at literally one mph), I plan to stay at the house for most of our visit. Thanks for stopping by. Sure hope you have a pleasant weekend. Stay safe but have fun. “Trips and vacations are so much more. These experiences show you what’s possible and challenge you to examine the paths you’ll take in the future.” – Blake Mycoskie
