Speed Bonny Boat

We turned up at the allotted time to attend the boat talk.

We can’t boat if we don’t attend the boat talk.

First problem. Our island neighbours hadn’t fully unpacked into their allocated space

The boat house where life jackets and cleaning materials were stored and where the talk takes place was full of Their stuff. And when I say stuff…

Booze, booze, soft drinks, booze and food

The management team looked at it and said ‘ you need to clear this away and also - you can’t leave the guns laying about.

si said ‘ they’ve brought guns. Where are they going to be shooting? Will this restrict our movement ‘ They said they were going to be shooting at little targets. And they were all certified.

Atill a bit perturbed by this as their accommodation is about 200 yards away in the ‘public areas’ Everyone walks past to get to the castle or the boats. No idea. Not terribly keen on the idea of guns

One person thanked us for the help Si and Tooli afforded them yesterday . I said ‘yeah the painkillers are just about kicking in.

And then the shit hit the fan.

The eldest member of their party who we estimate to be 80 appeared at the door… he was there one moment and then as if in slow motion he fell forward. No hands out. Face plonked onto the floor concrete floor bounced and went back down again

We moved to the front of the boathouse and left the family to take care of Their own.

At the very least I’d expect a broken nose. There was blood everywhere

The taking care of him took an hour and then one of the island team ably supported by 5 of the man’s family headed to the nearest hospital, twenty minutes by boat and the rest by car

We had the talk … long and tedious but necessary. At least now the ones who remained knew they couldn’t use their hairdryers, straighteners or plug on fridges. YES PLUG IN FRIDGES

Then we had the boat talk. By this time the rain had ceased to be drizzle and was full on pouring My raincoat I discovered wasn’t waterproof! Neither was Toolis! Si had an underbrella which was more use than our two Coats together

We baggsied the electric boat. Far newer than the boats for other houses… which are the same boats Si used as a 15 year old.

They finished the general boat talk and we had electic boat talk.

The rain by this time was now falling in lumps. Persistent lumps which penetrated ever inch of our bodies.

We learnt the basics and headed back to the house Si had a nap and Tooli and I read.

And then….

The sun came out

Look at his wee face. He was so happy

And he even caught a fish!
