Jimmy's Farm

Hello everyone. I'm out and about again, thank goodness, but still having to take life a little slower than before. 'Matilda ' is roadworthy again having failed a couple of things on her service and we are in Essex with her on a very nice little caravan site where there is a family of Barn Owls being raised in a nest in the loft of a barn right next to the caravan. The kind owner of the site has put a camera in the nest and rigged it up to a large tv in the far end of the barn where there is a large sofa and where we we are invited to sit and watch the nest's progress. It has been a fabulous time-waster and so lovely to watch. Although yesterday we saw nature at its most gruesome when the parent came into the nest, grabbed the littlest chick of 5, which we hoped was already dead as the parent proceeded to rip it apart and shared it with its siblings.

I'm glad to say that this morning there are still 4 chicks in the nest with mum and dad coming in and out and after a bit of tele/bird watching we were picked up by Chris's daughter who took us to Jimmy's Farm, near Ipswich where we met some of the adult grandchildren and spent a lovely afternoon with the animals. This evening we were picked up by more grandchildren and their partners and had a very good pub meal. Back to 'Matilda' where I was more than happy to see my bed after a long, but very enjoyably day.

Thank you all once again for your kind wishes of encouragement and support when I fell off the perch earlier this year and which were so much appreciated X
