ChampsClan

I've spent most of today on a trip to Glasgow for the UCI World Championships volunteer induction event. Combining all cycling world championships into one event for the first time (in August) means that there will be 8000 competitors and 4000 volunteers. Today there were 1500 of us, starting in the main auditorium of the Glasgow Concert Hall, and then breaking off into smaller areas specific to the volunteering location to which we'd been allocated. It took a few hours, and was more motivational than informational, but it was interesting to get an insight into the organisation of such a huge event, and felt good to be a tiny part of it.

Afterwards I wandered along the banks of the Clyde to the far end of Glasgow Green - where I'll have my three volunteering shifts - and then back through the park itself, calling in at the People's Palace, before taking the train back to Edinburgh.

#ChampsClan is for us to refer to the volunteering on social media.
