Piazza Navona
After a typical Roman breakfast of coffee and pastry in the little bar opposite our apartment building we’ve had a day of walking around the more modern of Rome’s ancient sites: the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon (OK, that’s nearly 2000 years old!), the Piazza Navona, where the main blip gave me a childish giggle, the Altar Of The Fatherland (aka The Wedding Cake), and a glimpse of the Forum and Colosseum from The Capitoline Hill. (see extras)
With 20000 steps under our belts we retired to our room late afternoon for a rest (after a huge gelato to refresh us) before venturing out this evening for a pre-dinner Campari Spritz and a delicious meal at the restaurant next to our apartment: salmon bruschetta (shared) linguine with fresh anchovies(me), pacherri with tuna, tomatoes and capers (Tess) tiramisu (me) and millefeuille with forest berries (Tess) and complimentary limoncello.
All this in perfect weather. Bliss!
