Astana Day 1
We’ve had a great day in the Kazakhstan capital, Astana. Very different to Almaty, no surrounding mountains but plenty of architecture to enjoy. It has been very hot, up to 39° this afternoon but we explored on foot and with plenty of refreshment stops, managed to walk 10 miles.
We met up with Rosie this evening after her lectures and enjoyed exploring the Atyrau bridge (blipped) before grabbing some dinner. As the sun began to head down we took a trip up the Bäiterek, an Astana “must do”. 97m up it was a great viewpoint (see first extra and one from earlier in the day from ground level).
