Between fen and mountains

Market square

I was in the market square this morning and saw this poster on the wall. I expect this is how the square looked around one hundred years ago. The square is now paved and the trough has disappeared. Cows only come through the village twice a year during the transhumance. The statue of Marianne in the background is still there though. I spent the morning preparing for two meetings tomorrow which was a shame as it was a lovely morning and I would have preferred being in the garden. I am having to pick up all the tasks the other church warden would be doing but can't because of her accident. The good news though is her operation went well. She will, however, be in rehab for three or four weeks. Our tower captain is back so ringing practice will be back to normal. There is no meal to prepare as friends have invited us out,.
