The unknown thief, though I have suspects...

I spent a lot of the day planting peas and thought I'd have time to plant the broad beans but that was a little optimistic. The beans were left on our doorstep, soaking in a little water.
When we went in for a snack  I found something had tried to eat the beans. A few of them were scattered about the doorstep. As the title says the thief is unknown but the chief suspect is one of the magpies. Anyway, we covered the beans with a rhubarb leaf and went in for our snack. When we emerged this is what we found. The rhubarb leaf pulled aside, three beans pulled out of the water and one of them half eaten!
I do like the magpies, they are loud chatters and like many families spend their time co-operating or competing. There's always something happening around these birds. I'll give up a bean or two to make them happy!
