Back to “Auld Claes and Porridge”

That’s what my mum used to say after the holiday - usually camping from an A30 in the Highlands. I can’t imagine what she’d think of our Mallorca experience.

Unbelievably I slept till 10am - well not so unbelievable if you take into account our walk in the hills then the flight and subsequent 1mile bag drag through the city to get the car, followed by 45 minute drive home and bed 3 am Mallorca time.

Today has been washing and hanging out clothes to dry, packing away winter clothes into the camphorwood chest and getting our summer ones (hope that doesn’t put a jinx on the weather), sorting out paperwork and making a pudding for Carol’s party tomorrow. I had a wander round the garden which is flourishing with benign neglect.
Just like our daughters have.

I saw an article in the Guardian about the English SATS Ella did. One of the pieces was an article about bats from the NYTimes, another about sheep rustlers. I can’t imagine many 11 year olds, especially those who have English as a second language, knew what they were.
