Foraging
Sourocks, l'oseille, sorrel or Rumex acetosa. A tasty addition to some bland chicken stock with a spritz of lemon juice, et voila a tangy refreshing soup! And to be had for free in the hedgerows!
Sourocks is the word I learned as a small child in Brodick, a zesty leaf to chew on a hot day!
So I think Lord Buccleuch was at it in 1631 when his expenses contained an entry "for sowrocks to stoue (stew) a hen with"
Toffs fiddling their expenses even in the 17th century!
Hopefully you will all have seen AnnieBScotland's blip for today! It's so great to see this, Annie 's commenting may be sparse for a while but I know know one will mind this!
And remember the blip party on Sunday!
