Merganser and babies

I spotted them ahead of me as we set off on a walk today. They were swimming so quickly along the edge of the lake that I had to run to keep up. At one point she had 5 trying to climb on board. See extra.

We walked a short way along the lake to Epesses then took the train to Rivaz and walked back through the vineyards high above the lake. The vineyards are so steep here that rails run up to help get the grapes down when they are ripe. See extras.Fabulous views and we even managed a coffee in full sun before driving the van back up the mountain, to the rain. Great mini break.
