Feather bed.

Lots of swans and signets at the Abbotsbury Swannery today.
An unexpectedly nice and sunny day considering the forecast for the last few days.

As you can quite imagine, there were lots of people there, and, it was somewhat of a crush to see anything at the feeding at midday. There are hundreds of swans here, and, as you might imagine, at feeding time most of them congregate around the area where is food dispensed. Only towards the end was there enough space to get a view (short of barging through the toddlers and parents shouting, "Coming through - Camera!"

Seeing dozens of swans in such a small area is quite a sight.

Afterwards, we had a stroll around the rest of the lakes and reed beds.

This little fella decided he wanted a nice comfy place to sleep so climbed up on mum's back and snuggled down. Mum then joined in. This was a nest just a few feet from the pathway - some nests were literally on the paths.

If you have young children - hurry down here in the next few weeks for the opportunity to see these wonderful majestic birds a close quarters. They will enjoy it, as, I am sure, so will you!
